These policies apply to Broken Clover customers. Separate terms govern ShopHAND business users and internal shop operations.
Appointments and deposits
Booking requests. An intake form, consultation request, message, or inquiry is not a confirmed appointment until the artist or service provider confirms the date and time with you.
Standard deposit. A standard deposit is $50, although the amount may vary based on the provider, service, or project. Deposits may be required for tattoo, permanent-makeup, and laser appointments. Piercing appointments are not included in this standard deposit policy.
Consultations. A consultation does not require a deposit. During or after the consultation, the provider may request a deposit to reserve the service appointment.
Non-refundable deposits. All deposits are non-refundable. A deposit reserves the provider’s time and may also compensate the provider for design or preparation work completed before the appointment. When the scheduled service is completed, the deposit is applied toward the agreed total price.
Rescheduling. Contact your provider at least 24 hours before the appointment if you need to reschedule. With proper notice, the deposit can be transferred to a new appointment up to two times. A third reschedule forfeits the deposit, regardless of notice, and a new deposit will be required to book again. Canceling the service instead of rescheduling does not entitle the client to a refund.
Late cancellations, late arrivals, and no-shows. A cancellation or rescheduling request made less than 24 hours before the appointment forfeits the deposit. A client who does not attend the appointment forfeits the deposit. If you arrive 15 minutes late without calling or texting your provider, the appointment will be treated as a no-show and the deposit will be forfeited.
If the provider cancels. When an artist or provider must cancel, the deposit will be refunded or, with the client’s agreement, transferred to another Broken Clover provider. A transfer will never be made without the client’s consent.
Pricing and payment
Upfront pricing. Tattoo services are priced by the piece—not by the hour—based on the design, size, placement, detail, and technical requirements. You will know and approve the complete price before work begins.
Placement considerations. Tattoos above the collar, below the wrist or ankle, or in bathing-suit areas may cost more because these placements can require additional time, privacy setup, positioning, and follow-up work.
Tattoo minimum. The shop minimum is $60. This covers the professional setup, sterile equipment, supplies, and artist time required for every tattoo.
Deposits and balances. A deposit is part of the agreed price, not an added fee. The remaining balance is due according to the payment arrangement confirmed by your provider.
Piercing and jewelry. Piercing fees and jewelry are priced separately. Current starting prices and material information are available on the Piercing Menu. Jewelry prices may change with material and market costs.
Jewelry guarantee. Broken Clover extends Junipurr Jewelry’s lifetime warranty for defects in materials and workmanship. Traditional jewelry chains, including necklace and bracelet chains, are excluded. Covered manufacturing defects may include a stone falling out or a threadless pin separating from the jewelry. The warranty does not cover lost jewelry or damage caused by misuse, excessive force, or rough handling, including a pin snapping because of user error. Bring the defective piece to Broken Clover for inspection. The jewelry must be returned so the claim can be verified; Broken Clover will handle the manufacturer’s claim and provide the remedy available under the warranty.
Laser services. Laser tattoo-removal pricing is based on the approximate treatment area. The official postcard-sized tier is up to approximately 6 × 4 inches. Returning sessions on the same tattoo cost less than the first session. See current prices on the Laser Services page.
Walk-ins
Broken Clover welcomes tattoo and piercing walk-ins when provider availability permits. Availability changes throughout the day and cannot be guaranteed or accurately predicted for a future date.
Flash tattoos and smaller projects are generally easier to accommodate as walk-ins. If you want a particular artist, a larger composition, permanent makeup, laser treatment, or a fully custom design, contact the appropriate provider and book ahead.
Consent forms and identification
Clients must complete the consent, health-screening, and identification steps required for their service before work begins. Information must be accurate and complete, and clients must give the provider an opportunity to answer questions.
A valid government-issued ID must be presented when required. Broken Clover staff must be able to verify the name, face, date of birth, and identification information before approving the service.
Review the spelling, meaning, placement, and design details before the procedure begins. A material change to the placement, design, or procedure after consent is submitted may require a new consent form.
The current service form is available on the Consent Form page.
Tattoo, piercing, laser, and PMU requirements
Tattooing. Tattoos are permanent. Results, color, line quality, and detail vary with skin, placement, healing, and the passage of time. Clients must disclose health factors that could affect the procedure or healing and follow the artist’s aftercare instructions.
Piercing. Piercing carries risks including infection, scarring, allergic reaction, swelling, migration, and other complications. Broken Clover uses implant-grade, biocompatible jewelry. Clients must follow professional cleaning, downsizing, and jewelry-change guidance.
Laser. Results depend on ink, skin, treatment area, and the body’s healing response. Complete tattoo removal or a particular result cannot be guaranteed. Redness, warmth, swelling, frosting, blistering, scabbing, or pigment changes may occur. Before treatment, avoid sun exposure, tanning products, lotions, oils, and makeup on the treatment area, and disclose relevant medical conditions and medications.
Permanent makeup. PMU consultation requests do not guarantee booking. The provider will review the request, determine whether a consultation or screening is needed, and confirm suitability, design, price, and scheduling before the procedure.
Minors and guardians
Broken Clover may pierce a minor when the legal, identification, guardianship, consent, and safety requirements are satisfied. The parent or legal guardian must attend and remain physically present for the entire procedure. The minor and guardian must present valid identification, and proof of guardianship may be required.
The minor must be able to clearly and voluntarily communicate that they want the piercing and remain calm enough for the procedure to be performed safely. If the minor is crying, resisting, unable to communicate consent, or becomes too distressed, Broken Clover will stop or postpone the procedure.
If the guardian leaves or does not remain present, Broken Clover may stop the procedure without a refund.
Complimentary tattoo touch-ups
Broken Clover provides complimentary touch-ups for tattoos performed at the shop. A touch-up may not be performed until at least six weeks after the original tattoo, and complimentary coverage does not expire.
If the original artist is no longer at Broken Clover, an owner will perform the touch-up or assign another qualified Broken Clover artist at no cost to the client.
Complimentary coverage is limited to restoring areas affected by ordinary healing. It does not include design changes, additions, or new tattoo work.
The complimentary touch-up policy is void if the tattoo shows evidence of water rejection or healing damage caused by soaking during the first six weeks, or if the tattoo has been altered by another shop or artist.
Client conduct, intoxication, and safety
Every service must be voluntary and safe. Clients must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs and must disclose medical conditions, medications, pregnancy, nursing, allergies, or other factors that could affect the procedure or healing.
Broken Clover and its providers may decline, postpone, pause, or stop a service when informed consent is not possible; the requested service cannot be performed responsibly; the client is intoxicated; conditions are unsafe; or conduct is threatening, harassing, abusive, disruptive, or damaging.
A client may be asked to leave when their conduct jeopardizes another person’s safety, comfort, or ability to work. Deposit treatment will follow the appointment rules above and the circumstances that caused the service to stop.
Aftercare responsibilities
Clients are responsible for following the service-specific aftercare instructions provided by their artist, piercer, laser technician, or PMU provider. Failure to follow those instructions can cause infection, irritation, poor healing, pigment changes, scarring, or additional corrective costs.
Do not substitute general internet advice for the instructions given for your procedure. Contact your provider when healing does not look or feel right. Seek prompt medical attention for severe or worsening symptoms.
Detailed tattoo, piercing, and laser guidance is available in the Broken Clover FAQ and on the Laser Services page.
Guests and group appointments
Broken Clover does not currently maintain a shop-wide guest limit or group-appointment policy. Coordinate group arrangements and guests directly with the artist or provider so the workspace and timing can be prepared appropriately.
Every person receiving a service must independently satisfy the consent, identification, age, and safety requirements that apply to that service.
Privacy and photography
Broken Clover collects information needed to respond to inquiries, schedule and provide services, document informed consent, confirm identity, support aftercare, maintain business records, and comply with legal obligations. Depending on the service, this may include contact details, birth date, address, identification information or images, proof of guardianship, health disclosures, reference images, service details, and payment records.
Information is shared only as reasonably necessary with the provider involved in the request or service, Broken Clover personnel, and vendors that operate the website, forms, hosting, communications, or recordkeeping systems, or when disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights and safety.
Photography choice. Tattoo and piercing clients may grant or refuse permission for service photographs to be used in portfolios, on the website, or on social media. Refusing photography permission does not prevent service. Personal identifying information will not be published with service images without additional permission.
More detail about collection, security, retention, service providers, and privacy requests appears in the Broken Clover Tattoo and ShopHAND Privacy Policy.
SMS communications and opt-outs
Broken Clover is not currently operating an automated customer appointment-reminder program. Customer SMS reminders are deferred until the website forms, consent process, privacy policy, and SMS terms are updated to support explicit customer authorization.
If an automated customer program is introduced, its messages will identify Broken Clover, explain that message and data rates may apply, and provide instructions to reply STOP to end automated messages and HELP for assistance.
The existing SMS Terms & Conditions currently govern operational notifications sent to affiliated artists—not customer appointment reminders.
Questions about these policies
If you have a question about an appointment, deposit, price, change, or aftercare issue, contact the artist or service provider directly. Service-specific decisions are best handled by the professional responsible for the appointment.
Broken Clover may update these policies as services and systems change. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will show when the published policy was revised.
